Today, our College gathered to commemorate ANZAC Day, a day of profound significance for Australians and New Zealanders alike. We honoured the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces.
Reflecting on the historical significance of ANZAC Day, marking the anniversary of the Gallipoli landing on April 25, 1915, today’s ceremony placed a special emphasis on honouring our Indigenous brothers and sisters. We acknowledged their great sacrifice and ongoing service, and were privileged to have St Peter’s alumnus, Lucas Gainsford, play the didgeridoo for our processional music.
Emphasising the values of courage, mateship, and commitment to a cause greater than oneself, which continue to inspire us, we honoured the memory of the ANZACs and all those who have served with pride and gratitude, perfectly captured by our Captains Elijah and Jess in their ANZAC address.
Thank you to our students and staff for joining us in this important ceremony, and to our key speakers, Indigenous teachers, Lucas, our Entertainment Team, and Mrs Selfridge for their contribution to this solemn but beautiful tribute. Let us continue to stand together in times of adversity, inspired by the legacy of the ANZACs.
Lest we forget.
