Students engage with a plethora of texts from multiple cultural perspectives for enjoyment, learning and analysis becoming critical thinkers who appreciate and analyse literary and non-literary texts.

St. Peter’s also participate in the Josie Mitchell Debating Competitions, Writing Competitions, The Premier’s Reading Challenge and the Josie Mitchell Public Speaking Events.

Stage 4 English

Year 7

Detailed attention on language and comprehension, narrative writing, visual literacy and listening.

Year 8

Focus on biographical accounts and writing, poetry analysis and appreciation, letter writing and visual literacy.
Stage 5 English

Year 9

Attention is paid to narrative writing, poetry and song analysis, essay writing, visual analysis and advertising and media studies.

Year 10

Concentration on classics such as The Odyssey and Macbeth, short films, short stories, speeches and time management for examinations.
