Pathways & Partnerships / Literacy Program Showcase

To conclude our inspiring Pathways Literacy Program, students from Years 5, 6, and 8 came together for a heartwarming final session: the Writing Showcase. During this special event, students proudly shared the stories they had crafted throughout the program — reading aloud to parents, teachers, and special Catholic Schools Broken Bay guests: Mr Phil Cox, Pathways & Partnerships Learning Partner, and Mr Danny Casey, Director of Schools. The rotating format created an intimate and engaging atmosphere in our St. Peter’s Library.
These stories were the result of weeks of collaboration, creativity, and exploration. Guided by guest speakers from our parent community, students worked in teams to write narratives that explored diverse life and career pathways. The Writing Workshops, led by Brett Perkins, a published children’s author and teacher at St John Fisher, brought students from both primary and secondary schools together. Brett’s passion for storytelling lit up the room and helped students find their voice with confidence and joy.
The final piece of the program, the Writing Showcase, was a beautiful celebration of student voice, creativity, and community. Parents were moved by the stories shared, and students beamed with pride as they presented their work. It was a fitting finale to a program that not only nurtured literacy skills but also built friendships and inspired future possibilities.
A heartfelt thank you to our parent guest speakers, Brett Perkins, Kylie Bailey, teachers, and our parents and special CSBB guests who made this journey so memorable. We can’t wait to see where our students’ writing skills take them next
