St Peter’s recently hosted the annual Catholic Schools Broken Bay ‘Battle of the Chefs’ Competition in our magnificent Trade Training Centre kitchens. Students from Years 11 and 12 undertaking the Stage 6 NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Vocational Education and Training (VET) course in Hospitality – Kitchen Operations and Cookery were invited to participate, with a team of three to represent each College. Seven schools from across the Diocese took part in this year’s competition presenting incredible dishes, showing their exemplary culinary skills and teamwork.
The competition kicked off with an ingredient reveal, and students were given just 60 minutes to plan and design their menu. They then had 3 hours of cooking time before serving their Mystery Box Challenge main course, followed by the set menu item.
Kudos all of the schools who battled it out – the dishes presented by all contestants were outstanding!
Congratulations to the 1st place winners of the 2024 competition Brigidine, and to Mater Maria on 2nd place and St Brigid’s who took out 3rd place.
And a HUGE congratulations to our very own 2024 Battle of the Chefs team, Noah, Zoe and Katie, who were awarded the Director of Schools favourite ‘Dish of the Day’ for their scrumptious dessert!
Finally, a few very special thank you’s for their involvement in this exceptional event;
