Today signifies the beginning of Advent, and in St Peter’s tradition, four candles will be placed at the front of our school to represent the four weeks of Advent.
The meaning of Advent is to look ahead to the coming of Christ to Earth, the birth of Jesus. Christ’s arrival brought the dawn of a new covenant and salvation, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
This is really what the Christmas season is all about.
