Our dedicated student Environmental Group have been active in supporting waste initiatives and maintaining our beautiful native gardens here at the College, and last week, our Year 9 and 10 students took their passion beyond the school grounds and participated in an incredible environmental project at Central Coast Wetlands.
With guidance from specialist staff, our students planted 530 seedlings and 80 plants, creating habitats for local wildlife like possums, gliders, and birds. They worked with bottle brushes and green wattle, which provide essential food and shelter for these animals.
The day started with a lesson on separating native seeds from seed pods and fruits. Then, they donned their gardening gloves to plant hand-raised seedlings into tube stock planters, which will grow further in the greenhouse. Finally, they ventured into the active rehabilitation area to plant grasses, shrubs, and trees.
We’re so proud of their hard work and dedication to making a positive impact on our environment!
