We’ve had some exciting equestrian news come in! Year 10 student, Paige L, attended the Equestrian Australia NSW State Interschools Championships over the school holidays. Paige competed with her young horse, Emmaville Temptation (aka Hazel), in 2 showjumping events over 4 days consisting of 8 rounds each at 90cm and 1m.
Each event’s selection was capped at 35 competitors based on performances over the past 12 months. Paige and her horse Hazel achieved a 3rd overall in the 1m height in the ‘Secondary’ competition for students in years 10-12. This result means she qualifies to represent NSW at the Australian National Interschools Championships in September.
The NSW State Championships were highly competitive with most riders on seasoned schoolmaster horses, competing over some highly technical courses in the indoor arena at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
With only 3 points separating the top 3 competitors, it was a wonderful outcome for Paige as her horse is still a youngster, and they are only a relatively new partnership.
