Did you know the Central Coast is 2nd in NSW for Domestic Violence! Love Bites is a nationally recognised program offered to adolescents to help them develop into informed adults. Last Thursday our Year 10 students engaged in this wellbeing program focussed on developing their understanding of respectful relationships, giving them the skills to identify unsafe situations, and know how to keep themselves safe as well as their friends.
Students learned about the law and penalties for different types of antisocial behaviours such as Stalking, Assault, and DFV. They were challenged by scenarios that were complex and could express their opposing views in a safe place, coming to the realisation that relationships are complex however there are behaviours that are corrosive to positive relationships.
Year 10 were thoroughly engaged, and the day culminated in some artwork expressing what they had learned. Students will use the skills they learned throughout their lives to ensure they have happy and positive relationships.
