This year, we were proud to implement a new Elite Athlete Program designed to support the development of our most committed and high-performing student-athletes. This initiative aims to enhance athletic performance while maintaining a strong focus on academic excellence, well-being, and personal growth. The program includes Field-based skills and conditioning and Gym-based strength and development, as well as elements of goal setting, nutrition education, injury prevention, and mental skills development, aligning with our commitment to developing well-rounded athletes. This initiative reflects our ongoing dedication to supporting students both on and off the field, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in respect, discipline, and personal excellence.
The Elite Athlete Program has proven to be a resounding success, with students demonstrating exceptional commitment and drive throughout the winter term. In what can only be described as an inspiring show of discipline, our athletes consistently rose early on cold, dark mornings to train before the school day began — a true testament to their dedication and resilience.
These early sessions were not easy, yet our athletes embraced the challenge, pushing themselves to improve both physically and mentally. The program has not only enhanced athletic performance but has also fostered a strong culture of self-discipline, routine, and personal growth. By choosing to show up and give their best, our students are well on their way to becoming the best versions of themselves — both on and off the field.
A massive thank you must go to Mr Hawkins, Ms Atkins, Mr Brosnan, Mr Laver, and Mr Preston for their incredible support of our young athletes. Their willingness to give up their mornings each week to coach, encourage and mentor these students has made a lasting impact. This program simply would not be possible without their passion, energy, and commitment. The program will return in Term 4, allowing students to focus on the business end of the season in their winter sports.
