The St Peter’s U14 Girls Touch Football Team recently travelled to Wallsend to compete in the Hunter/Central Coast All Schools Touch Football Tournament. As the only team from the Central Coast, the girls were determined to make a statement and showcase their talent. They dominated the round games with impressive victories of 9-0, 3-1, 12-0, and 6-0, advancing to the finals with a for-and-against record of 30-1.
After winning the quarterfinal 7-0 and the semifinal 3-1, our girls were ready to take on Hunter Sports High School in the Grand Final. The match was tightly contested, with the score remaining 0-0 for most of the game. Unfortunately, we were the first to crack, eventually losing 2-0.
The team’s success was a collective effort, with everyone contributing to setting up or scoring tries. Ava M stood out, scoring a quarter of our team’s points with 10 tries throughout the day. The team now progresses to the State Finals, where they will face some of the best teams in the state. We wish them the best of luck for State Finals!
