Our talented Year 7/8 Girls Touch Football side had the opportunity to represent the College in the Central Coast/Hunter All Schools Tournament. After giving up a number of lunch times to train in preparation for the event, the girls and Coach Mr Hawkins were confident leading into this knockout competition.
In the opening pool games, the girls blitzed the competition, winning 9-0 against Belmont HS, 2-0 against Terrigal HS and 11-1 against Cardiff HS. Exiting the pool and heading to the quarters they knew their next lot of opposition were going to be tough. The girls beat Tomaree HS 2-1 in a very close quarter final match before succumbing to a strong St Catherines Singleton side 1-0 in the semi-finals, leaving them one game away from qualification for the state finals.
The team were a little disappointed with the final result, however, to finish the day with a for and against of +21 shows how strong this group of girls played throughout the day, and they should be very proud of the way they competed and improved throughout the tournament. Well done girls!
