It is with great pleasure to announce Manarangi M, one of our 2023 HSC Visual Arts students, has been crowned the winner of the University of Newcastle Acquisitive Art Award. The $500 Art Prize was announced on Friday 16 February at the Opening Night of the Coast Next Gen Art Exhibition 2024. This event is proudly organised by the University of Newcastle, and held at the Ourimbah Campus, to support the next generation of young artists on the Central Coast.
The exhibition showcased a wide variety of art from photography to sculpture, painting to digital design by 34 talented HSC graduates selected from 12 schools across the Central Coast.
Manarangi’s beautiful artwork, KĀWAI WĀHINE (Generation of Women), was selected by the University’s Art Curator to purchase printed copies of her work, which will then feature as a permanent piece in the University’s National Gallery. This is an amazing achievement for a young artist.
St Peter’s Catholic College and the Visual Arts Department congratulates Manarangi on her outstanding success.
Proudly supported by the Central Coast Council and Bouddi Foundation of the Arts, this free exhibition is open to the public from Monday 19 February until Friday 5 April at the University of Newcastle, Ourimbah campus library https://www.newcastle.edu.au/…/coast-next-gen-art…
