During Term 2, Year 8 Art Students studied the unit, “Sweet as Pop” that focused on the Pop Art movement of the 60’s. They created the most amazing, delectable, and realistic dessert paintings inspired by the Artist, Wayne Thiebaud. Students developed their skills in colour theory, acrylic paint colour mixing and painting techniques. The artworks looked so delicious as the paint was lathered on like icing, ice-cream or cream. The cherries and strawberries were brought to life with dark shadows and bright highlights. Every lesson made us hungry. Students were very proud of their finished artworks that are now proudly displayed on the wall of the Q-Block hallway gallery. We look forward to welcoming our new students into the Visual Arts classes this term.
