Last week all year 9 students participated in a full day Geography excursion to Sydney. This field trip was to give first hand experience of urban renewal and an appreciation for the changes caused by urbanisation.
Students ventured over the Harbour Bridge and began exploring Pyrmont. We saw evidence of its former port facilities and discovered the historical use of several buildings and how they have been gentrified to have new uses for a new and very different population.
The students had a stunning ferry ride under the harbour bridge and walked from Circular Quay to Barangaroo where they saw the multi storey towers, Crown Casino and the lovely new parklands. Students enjoyed being able to experience and collect primary data about the impacts these places have on communities, the economy and the environment.
A great day was had by all.
