We are extremely proud to announce that our College Captain, Elijah R, has been invited to join the board of The Central Coast Domestic Violence Committee, to be a young ambassador against DV. This was after Elijah contacted them to donate his community grant of $2000 to their cause.
As an ambassador, Elijah will be involved in ongoing events, speaking against Domestic Violence. The first of these events is tomorrow evening! ‘Reclaim the Night’ will be held at The Entrance Memorial Park, this Friday 18th October, kicking off at 5.30pm.
‘Reclaim the Night’ is an event where women and children can feel safe, whilst also raising awareness for Domestic Violence. The event will begin with a street march to the Memorial Park, where Elijah and three others are on a guest panel of speakers to talk about their experiences with DV. Speakers include the Seargent of the DV Unit, a university Professor, and a survivor of Domestic Violence, as well as Elijah. Throughout the night, resource tents and food trucks will be set up, with live performances by multiple artists, followed by a fireworks display at 8:55pm to finish the event.
We are incredibly proud of Elijah, and would love to see our College community attend, if you’re able, to show your support
Please refer to the event’s flyer for all the details.
