Lady Elliot Island Excursion

Year 12 2024 Geography, Marine Studies, and Earth and Environmental Science students recently embarked on an exciting marine odyssey to Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
This incredible field trip, which took place on 30th Nov to 3rd Dec 2023, provided these lucky students with an array of experiences and memories to last a lifetime. They encountered breathtaking sunsets, and swam with manta rays, sharks, turtles, and countless species of fish in their natural environments. A special highlight was witnessing several green turtles laying eggs in nests on the island. Beyond the mesmerising marine life, the trip also provided an insight into environmental management and how an eco-tourism resort operates.
The students and staff send a very heartfelt thank you to Hervey Bay Motel and Hervey Bay RSL for ensuring their trip was a comfortable and memorable experience.
Special shoutout the dedicated and passionate accompanying staff – Mr Miles, Mrs O’Keeffe, Mrs Fortmann, and Mr Lynch – who not only took on the role of teachers, but also marine biologists, lifeguards, medics, snorkel masters and tour guides extraordinaire!
